Leo · Scorpio
Both of you need to matter. Only one of you needs an audience.
Leo and Scorpio are both fixed signs at a square, which is the angle that grinds. Both want to be the one who counts in the room. Leo wants to be seen. Scorpio wants to be known. Those look similar from a distance and they are not remotely the same thing.
What pulls
Neither of them is small, and neither of them is interested in someone who is. Leo is drawn to the one person in the room who is clearly not performing and who therefore cannot be won over cheaply. Scorpio is drawn to a warmth that is not calculated, which in Scorpio’s experience is rare enough to be worth investigating. Leo’s attention feels like sunlight. Scorpio’s attention feels like being read.
Where it grinds
Leo needs the relationship acknowledged, out loud, in front of other people. Scorpio considers what happens between two people to be nobody else’s business, and treats the request for a public display as vanity. Leo, meanwhile, experiences Scorpio’s privacy as being kept off the record. So Leo performs harder to get a reaction, and Scorpio withdraws further to keep the thing intact, and each is doing the exact thing that makes the other worse.
The long version
A square does not resolve. It just gets carried well or carried badly. Carried well, these two make each other formidable: Leo learns that being known is deeper than being admired, and Scorpio learns that being generous in the open costs nothing. Carried badly, it becomes a competition for the room. The Sun signs will not tell you which one it is. The angle between the two Moons usually will.
